The Story Of The Penguinsons
The Penguinsons are three birds, three species of Penguin.
Penguins are birds who cannot fly and are always looking upward, wishing, hoping, praying and dreaming of flying someday.
First, there is the 15 year old drum phenomenon and computer genius, King Penguinson, A.K.A., "Sticks", "Thunder", or Anthony.
(as his mom calls him)
Next, there is his Father, old man Rockhopper Penguinson,
who tirelessly thumps the bass guitar by the young birds side.
Lastly, there is the Emperor Penguinson,
once a human and formerly of Big Orange Marble,
(a band once inhabited by a witch and a warlock).
He was turned into a Penguin by them with a
"never play with you again", curse.
The ones placing the curse believing if they turned him into a Penguin who cant fly, he would freeze in the arctic and never Rock and Roll again.
Thus for Seven Eons The Emperor did not Rock and Roll.
Lo and Behold, The Gods Of Rock had mercy on the cursed bird.
And One Day
The Emperor met The King and The Rockhopper in an igloo
which had some ancient guitars, drums and bass inside of it.
They found they could rock and roll in that frozen tundra until they did magically grow wings and they began to rock hard on the ice.
Well, they flew away and rocked their way into Forever
and Happily Ever After.
The End.

04-09-06 I think this song works best using "she" rather than "he," like it's sung here. I like the vocals and lyrics too. Rick did a nice job with the melody. Votin. Rich.

04-09-06 Sounds quite good. I think I would see how, " from me" went tackced on to the needed. Dropping the really. Seems to sing better to me. Graham

04-11-06 Great song! Rick...your voice sounds great!... and the lyric is really good. On a side note, the production is aces too. Even though it shouldn't matter, it sure doesn't hurt to have a strong recording (and arrangement) to present the song. Vote! -john

Hi Folks:
The Gousters have moved up to the 28th Spot on Roots Music Report ! Weds April 12, 2006
Roots Americana Country
http://www.rootsmusicreport.com/2.0/charts.php?name=tradcountry
An eclectic blend of traditional country, country, rock & ballads in the alternative genre
I was very gratified to see "The Gousters" climb to the 28th spot on Roots Music Report on 4-12-06. My song writing partner Zander Schloss and I want to tell you a little about how we came together. I met Zander on the set of a now cult film called "Repo Man" by Alex Cox. Zander played the part of "Kevin" opposite Emilio Estevez' character "Otto." Harry Dean Stanton had the lead role. Zander went on to writing many of the soundtracks for Alex on "Sid & Nancy" and "Straight to Hell" writing with Joe Strummer on that film. I videotaped the auditions.
He is also the bass player for "The Circle Jerks' a founding punk band in Los Angeles. I reunited with Zander when he rented the studio apt over my garage and thus began our collaboration on "The Gousters" five years in the making. We spent three years in the basement and two years at Brian Susko's Westside Recorder Studio in Santa Monica. It was there that musician friends helped lay down the lush violin backgrounds heard on a number of the songs and other tracks.
Three of the songs are from Zander's former band "Low & Sweet Orchestra" with James Fearnely of "The Pogues" on accordion and Dermot Mulrooney, now an actor. The band was dropped with a few hundred other artists from Interscope Records during the late 90's culling. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Zander.
I'm a Vietnam Veteran with Post-Traumatic Stress having served as a Navy Corpsman (medic) with a Marine platoon in Vietnam in 1970.
It is our wish to find ( or be found) by a label and establish a publishing deal. We are the only band listed on Roots Music Report with a Demo CD. Running Times Music commented: "It's almost unheard of but hope this is an indicator of the Indies being taken more seriously."I hope we will continue to get more airplay and the consideration of someone in the business to take a good hard "listen" to what we have accomplished so far.
Thanks for listening,
Walt Cronin
